Planning on still
being drunk feeling good from this Friday’s Official Toronto ComiCon Kick-Off Party hosted by G33KPRON and/or don’t have the dosh to splash at this weekend’s Fan Expo ComiCon, but you’re still in downtown Toronto (with or without a child) and are itching to get your party on with a life-sized Mario mascot at a rock-and-roll-themed restaurant complex? Well, your oddly specific prayers have been answered…
This Saturday, March 10th, 2012, head on down to the Hard Rock (279 Yonge Street, Toronto) from 11 a.m.–4 p.m. to, according to the invite we received, “PARTY LIKE NEVER BEFORE!
“[…] Mario™ will be the Master of Ceremonies as he invites you to the launch of the Mario Party 9 game!
“Be among the first to play Mario Party 9 for the Wii™ system and enjoy a family-friendly, party atmosphere with free food (from noon to 2pm) and hourly giveaways worthy of legends like Mario and the Hard Rock Cafe. Mario arrives at 12pm to get the party started. Giveaways are available while supplies last!”
In case you’re wondering why a middle-aged (and childless) female gamer is interested in this, let me assure you that it has nothing to do with my biological clock; I’ll be bringing my sister and her son (my nephew [who is probably the youngest die-hard Mario fan in existence]) to the event since my jaded outlook on the Wii could use a little jumpstart in the childlike-awe department…
… speaking of which, are there any childless gamers out there who still Wii it up? if so, why? (I can name a scant few titles for the console that I’m keeping because they’re awesome, but I want to know why you’re keeping yours [or why you’ve rid yourself of it…]).
