Xbox Live Rewards Being Tied to Achievements This Fall

the Xbox Live rewards program is a little something that Microsoft has had ongoing within Xbox Live since 2010. The rewards program basically gives gamers extra MS Points in tiny increments for buying select Arcade titles, avatar items, taking surveys, and are then paid out to the user once they hit 100 points. I’ve been sitting at 60 reward points for the longest time and honestly have had very little interest in the mere thought of the program.

Until now, that is.

Today on Twitter, the Xbox Live Rewards team let loose the news that starting in the fall, Xbox Live Rewards would also be tied to your Gamerscore and Achievements. How exactly still remains a mystery as they have stated that that’s all the information to be given at this time, but for those of you out there like myself that love achievements, it could be something very fun and worth keeping an eye on when the new addition to the program launches later this year.

At the original inception of the achievements idea, they were planning on having physical rewards for the achievements you earned, giving them something of value more than the simple bragging rights that they currently have, but sadly that idea never came to fruition. Now however, it seems that the achievements that you have earned–if retroactive when launched– will get you a little something more than just a number.
