Let’s Play: White Noise Online *SPOILER* I Screamed. A Lot.

WhiteNoiseLetsPlay

Sorry about the lack of ObsCure Let’s Play updates, but I haven’t had the time to record them in the past couple days. They will be returning tomorrow for that one person out there that actually enjoys watching them, but in the meantime, I DID, have a chance to record a different Let’s Play.

This is for the XBL Indie game White Noise Online. There are two versions, the online and the non-online, but both are a whopping dollar to buy. White Noise is basically a cartoonish version of Slender, you know that game that creeps the fuck out of you with a skinny guy in a suit.

ObsCure Returns; Coming to XBLA, PSN, PC This Summer

obscure_logo

Remember that survival horror game from Hydravision that was released for the PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox called ObsCure? Well it seems the creators have set up a studio of their own called “Mighty Rocket Studios” and have decided to give the series a revamp. The new Obscure features an all-new gameplay style, visuals, perspective, but yet still retains the same name, minus an oddly placed capital letter. The once third-person, dark, and creepy title is now a 2.5 3D side-scroller with a cartoonish style. Here’s a bit from the press release:

Playable alone and in cooperative mode (local & online), Obscure lets you play as one of four unlikely heroes; students, each with unique skills and abilities that develop throughout the adventure. Geared toward action and all-out brawling, Obscure’s combat emphasizes combos, follow-up attacks, and score-multipliers! Survive against packs of monsters trying to skin you alive, discover new weapons, and complete objectives throughout a variety of huge, non-linear levels.

The new take on Obscure will have the characters returning to Leafmore Highschool and I’m sure there will be plenty of other references to the original two titles as well. The game is set to be released this summer on XBLA, PSN, and PC. For now, here’s a trailer to please your eyeballs.

Black Knight Sword: Cat Head Grass Locations Guide
Author: Jeff McAllister

Throughout the weird and wacky chapters of Black Knight Sword, there are collectibles to be found that are called Cat Head Grass. As the name implies, they are cat heads that are sitting in plant pots. As you collect them, they will be gathered into a room and will dance with some pretty memorable music when you go to visit them from the main menu. While it’s cute to have a few of them, nothing beats seeing the full room of cat heads bouncing around to the catchy tunes.

Mark of The Ninja Review

Mark of the Ninja Review
Author: Jeff McAllister

Developer Klei Studios had a lot to prove after their previous cartoon stylized titles of Shank and Shank 2 were the poster children of side-scroller mediocrity. While they had a fantastic art style to them, their gameplay was lacking and ultimately wasted in their repetitiveness. Their newest offering, Mark of the Ninja, brings the same fantastic art style but instead of balls to the wall, guts and glory, it takes players on a journey of stealth and sabotage. It’s a reminder that there really was a time when ninja games were about stealth and strategy. A time when games like Tenchu were once about using the tools at your disposal for quietly dispatching enemies and not just jumping into a group of enemies, hacking and slashing their limbs off like every other modern ninja based game.

Mark of the Ninja Achievement Videos

Here are a couple videos on how to accomplish some of the achievements in the recently released Mark of the Ninja for XBLA. The first video is for the “The Worst Allies” Achievement, in which you will need to kill a guard by getting other guards to shoot them. The way to do this is to terrorize them in the dark, when there are a few guards present, so that they freak out and just start firing blindly. The second video is for the “Better Left Unseen” achievement, which is a lot easier to pull off. For this one, all you need to do is take out a guard on an upper level and then drop his body through a grate onto a guard on the level below. Also, please enjoy how I kill myself right after I pull it off. I don’t know what was up with that.

Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition Review

Frogger Hyper Arcade Edition Review
Author: Jeff McAllister

Not too long after the release of the hyper-stylized Pac-Man Championship Edition on XBLA and the PSN, other arcade favorites started to receive the energetic overhaul. Galaga, the wave based space shooter was next in line and although it didn’t receive the same acclaim that Pac-Man did, it was still an interesting rejuvenation for an aging game. After the success of those re-tuned arcade games, it was only a matter of time before other companies started to jump on the neon bandwagon. The most recent title to hop on is the retro arcade monster hit Frogger, with Konami releasing Frogger: Hyper Arcade Edition.

Minecraft XBox 360 Edition Review

Minecraft XBox 360 Edition Review
Author: Seán O’Sullivan

If the runaway success of its cheap knockoffs is anything to go by, Xbox 360 owners have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. Now that it’s finally arrived with a feature-set that’s considerably pared down compared to the PC release version, and costing ten times more than the Indie imitators, Minecraft might have its work cut out trying to justify the 1600 MSP asking price.
